Frosting

To my baba, who hates his birthday -

Imagine when you’re born

you’re given an empty plate

and every year that passes by

add a layer to your cake

now it’s common knowledge

that a dry cake is no good

it’s the frosting in between

that makes it taste the way it should

happy birthday to my favorite person

who’s cake stands big and tall

to many more layers of frosting

and to together, sharing them all
